Boaz Day

Most of the Altor team had a great day recently helping the Boaz charity near Winchester.

Boaz are based on a local farm and provide a service for 40 adults with learning difficulties. They provide a supportive environment where their members can grow food, raise chickens for egg production, cook this food for their lunch (and meals to take home), work on woodworking projects, craft and conduct donkey walks with visitors. For some members it is the only break they get from living in isolation in the local community. For some family members it is the only respite they get from their caring responsibilities.

The Altor Foundation recently made a donation to Boaz of £6,000 but we wanted to do something of practical importance as well. Our team were able to clear the ground around their well house and install an electric fence to keep sheep from eating the newly planted trees. We were also able to help build and craft items for Boaz's fundraising stall at Car-Fest 2024.

The excellent staff team at Boaz made sure that we were well-fed on the day from garden produce and also had a chance to walk the donkeys. The whole team is looking forward to being able to visit and help again soon.
